During Prohibition (1920-1933), temperance
activists hired a scholar to rewrite the Bible by removing all references
to alcohol beverages.
The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) strongly supported Prohibition and its very
strict enforcement. Curious?
Some New Items:
Alcohol
as a Dietary Supplement
Alcohol should be treated as a dietary supplement by middle-age
people because positive health effects of drinking up to two drinks
a day for women and three for men are so dramatic, say some researchers.
DWI/DUI
Laws of U.S. States
DWI and DUI laws of all states , including license revocation or
suspension, open containers, and blood alcohol concentration (BAC)
limits, are listed in addition to drinking and driving resources.
Alcohol
Abuse: The Economic Costs
Federal statistics on the economic costs of alcohol abuse fail to
conform to standard accounting methods. For example, by such methods
as looking only at costs and ignoring economic benefits generated
by the production and distribution of alcohol beverages, agencies
generate highly inaccurate statistics reports Gene ford.
Preventing
Underage Alcohol Purchases
Alaska state law now permits an alcohol licensee to impose a civil
penalty of $1,000 on any minor who attempts to buy alcohol in that
establishment. There is now a strong economic incentive to catch
underage persons attempting to make an illegal purchase. This law
enforcement occurs at no cost to the vendors or to other taxpayers.
It is paid entirely by underage minors who violate the law.
