The Supreme Court and Congress "knew or should have known", which is a legal standard, that alcohol is a lethal, addictive, drug and a poison that destroys millions of lives. So, why aren't they doing something about saving the country from this mass form of manslaughter, devastation and destruction? Mr. and Mrs. USA this is your country, you live here, you own our country and are paying taxes to keep it alive for yourself and family to enjoy and to be happy while you're here on earth. Life is too short, time is running out for you and soon your children, if they escape the ravages of alcohol, will be looking at their children saying the same thing. Why are you letting the alcohol beverage industry, the government, the judiciary and the advertising world dictate the terms of your existence? Don't you realize that you are the United States of America?(excerpt from the last chapter of God's Linchpin)

GUILTY?

OF THE VIOLATION OF OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS AND MANSLAUGHTER

Involuntary Manslaughter:    Involuntary manslaughter is the unintentional killing of a human being that results from a failing to perform a legal duty under circumstances amounting to criminal negligence.

Criminal negligence:  Conduct that shows a reckless disregard for human life or safety and a willful indifference to the injury that is likely to follow. Add conspiracy to coverup the crime by two or more individuals and federal civil rights charges can be applied. For the federal  law to apply, there must be proof that two or more people were conspiring to deprive an individual of civil rights. To go a step further, if death results, conviction can result in a term of up to life imprisonment and tens of thousands of dollars in fines. Probable cause is all that is needed for a Grand Jury to bring formal charges (indictment) against the accused.

BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA – Ethyl alcohol, the addictive drug/poison remains a monumental problem in the United States. When someone suffers from the disease of alcoholism, most people fault the victim, and assume some moral or physical failing. But exactly who should assume responsibility for this problem? God’s Linchpin (available from 1stBooks Library) presents a compelling argument for shifting the blame from the individual sufferer to those in charge of this multi-billion dollar industry and their co-conspirators.

Author Bill Macdowell brings an intimate and personal knowledge to this important subject. A recovering alcoholic, who kicked his three-decade addiction in the late 1970’s, he feels strongly that the people involved in alcohol production, sales and distribution bear ultimate responsibility for the pervasiveness of this condition. He names the U.S. Congress, the Supreme Court, the individual states and various alcohol beverage industry players, indicting them with destroying countless lives. The author also refutes the notion that consumers "Knew or Should Have Known" the dangers inherent in drinking, but squarely places that legal ruling where it justly belongs.

The book gives readers detailed commentary on product liability as it relates to the alcohol industry. Topics include what constitutes alcohol product liability, labeling inadequacies, advertising’s subliminal and overt facets, and an in-depth discussion of alcoholism as a disease and its medical consequences. Currently, Congress is considering a bill that would give a human fetus the same legal rights as its mother if harmed. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), knowingly harming an unborn child, not to prelude stillbirths and spontaneous abortions could be considered a crime should this legislation pass.

The book also presents two case decisions from suits and appeals filed by the author to enlighten readers of their rights when challenging the alcohol industry. Additionally, the book gives people damaged by alcohol’s direct or indirect effects valuable information to help them should they pursue legal action. Legal scholars or people who work in the field of alcoholism can glean new understanding of the complex issues surrounding this problem.

Groundbreaking and controversial, God’s Linchpin holds higher authorities accountable for the product they manufacture, distribute, sell and defend in the name of profit, personal greed and power. The author ultimately hopes to educate readers about how product liability law and alcoholism intertwine, and how people can fight back against those agencies they feel have irreparably destroyed their lives.
