About the Artist

STEVE DANIELS has been working as a commercial artist and technical
illustrator since 1963. While still in high school he prepared artist renderings for architects.

His father was in the Navy so Steve lived on or near military bases all his life becoming familiar with ships, aircraft, weapons and other equipment. He began his military training with seven years in the Civil Air Patrol and three years of Army R.O.T.C.

After graduating from technical school with a diploma in mechanical drafting he joined the Air Force. When the military discovered his natural abilities in technical illustrating and his ability to draw any aircraft without a picture, he was assigned to Langley A.F.B. as staff artist for Technical Air Command. Steve prepared audio visual presentations, artist concepts of top secret aircraft and N.A.S.A. spacecraft.

He prepared hundreds of paintings of W.W.II aircraft to be used in publications and slide presentations. Steve also prepared illustrations of aircraft with new weapon systems installed for the Viet Nam War.

He now lives in North Carolina with his wife Carol, who is also a professional artist in her own rights. He prepares illustrations of aircraft for pilots, museums and corporations. Not only does he specialize in aircraft, but also in Navy ships and Army tanks and helicopters, etc.

When President Bush was in office, Steve did a painting of the T.B.F. Avenger Bush was flying when he was shot down. The White House staff invited Steve to present the painting to the President in the Oval Office. Steve works in pen and ink, acrylics, oils or pencil and can work from old photographs supplied by the client or he has the resources to find photos of most any type of military equipment.
